Homes from every decade since the start
Haile was built over several decades, so a single street can have homes 20 years apart in age. The earliest sections date to the years when polybutylene supply pipe was common, and some of those homes still have it. Later homes have CPVC or PEX. Knowing what's in your walls matters: polybutylene tends to fail at fittings, while newer systems more often fail at supply hoses and fixture connections.
Hard water shortens appliance life
Like the rest of Gainesville, Haile gets hard water, and mineral scale wears out water heaters, washer valves, dishwasher lines and fridge ice-maker connections faster than soft water would. Water heaters here are often in garages or interior closets. When one fails overnight, water can spread across the slab into flooring and baseboards in several rooms. A pan with a drain line under the tank helps, but only if the drain line is clear.
Townhomes and shared walls
Haile's townhome sections mean some leaks cross from one home into the next. When that happens, clear records of where the water started and what it damaged protect both owners and make the insurance claims simpler. We document each home separately. Check your association's documents for how responsibility is split for shared structures.
