At the edge of the Everglades
Weston was built right up to the Everglades, with a levee on its western edge and a system of lakes and canals managing its water. The water table is high, and during long rain events, lakes rise and some low yards flood. The system generally works well, but extreme rain can overwhelm it. See flood cleanup.
