Ian and Nicole
Ian's rain in 2022 flooded neighborhoods on both sides of the river in New Smyrna Beach, and Nicole's surge and erosion six weeks later damaged beachside dunes and properties. Beachside homes and rentals
New Smyrna's beachside has older cottages, newer raised homes, condos and many vacation rentals. Wind-driven rain, salt corrosion and leaks in empty rentals are common. Ground-level cottages near the river side of the peninsula can also flood from the Indian River North during storms.
Historic Canal Street
